The award-winning children's environmental adventure strand heads for the high seas, as eight intrepid travellers sail off to southern Chile Whilst searching out remote and unexplored islands in this stunning area of the Pacific Ocean, they also take part in a census of the local penguins and partake in research about the remote colonies of sea mammals, including sea lions, whales, seals and dolphins. To survive this epic feat, the team are trained in sailing, diving and snorkelling techniques in the stunning fjords and channels of Tierra del Fuego, and sail through the historic channels of the Magellan Straits and Beagle Passage, eventually rounding Cape Horn itself! If that wasn't enough they also do the first survey of the most southerly glacier in the world outside of Antarctica. This is a truly major trip and really marks the amazing achievement of this strand that has consistently achieved major award recognition across all its series.
